KZN Biodiversity Stewardship Programme

Conservation Outcomes plays a pivotal role in KwaZulu-Natal’s Biodiversity Stewardship Programme, focusing on declaring new protected areas using the standardised Biodiversity Stewardship approach. We serve as a key member of the Protected Area Task Team alongside the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, and as Vice-Chair of the KZN Biodiversity Stewardship Working Group. Conservation Outcomes’ KZN Stewardship Programme is the umbrella for all declarations done by the organisation in the province. Since 2019, Conservation Outcomes, with support from partners (WWF-SA and BirdLife-SA) and private landowners, has successfully secured over 160,000 hectares of critical land in KwaZulu-Natal as new Protected Areas under NEM:PAA, driving significant conservation impact in the region.
