Design of SANParks GEF-8 and GBFF Mega Living Landscapes Programme
Conservation Outcomes was part of the team responsible for assisting SANParks in the design and development of its Megal Living Landscapes Programme, which is aligned with its Vision 2040 and envisages significant expansion of protected areas around South Africa’s national parks in support of South Africa’s implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), particularly the achievement of Target 3 (the 30X30 target). The programme, which is to be initiated through funding provided by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF-8) and the GBF Fund, is focussed on the establishment of three landscape-level conservation initiatives, focussed on the regions around Addo-Mountain Zebra-Camdeboo National Parks, the new Grasslands National Park (being established in the Eastern Cape) and the Barberton Makhonjwa region, stretching south of the Kruger National Park and encompassing the Barberton-Makhonjwa World Heritage Site.
