Biodiversity Assessment Support Project

SANParks has adopted their 2040 vision, with a significant emphasis on the expansion of the existing National Park network through their Board approved Land Inclusion Plan. This expansion can be enabled through the declaration of land purchased by SANParks, state land assigned to SANParks, or the inclusion of private or communal land as “Contract National Parks”. Conservation Outcomes is providing support to SANParks in conducting biodiversity assessments of potential properties identified by SANParks. This involves the use of the standard SANParks assessment template document, involving both a desktop and in-field assessment. Further support is being provided in the development of Operational Plans for properties being included as Contract National Parks. The provision of training and capacity building to SANParks staff is also being enabled.
